Notes about the German versions of this volume:
1st edition 1984. Part 1 was initially published in 1958. Part 1 (4 lectures) was stenographically recorded officially by Franz Seiler, and unofficially by Helene Finckh and Elizabeth Vreede. The 1958 edition was based only on Vreede and Finckh's notes. For this edition Seiler's stenogram was reviewed, leading to numerous corrections of errors both large and small. Part 2 (6 lectures) is based only on a stenographic recording by Franz Seiler. Both the stenogram and the initial reconstruction are extant, allowing a comparison that yeilded a number of corrections. Part 3 (1 lecture) is based on notes by Elizabeth Vreede and Johanna Arnold. Vreede's reconstruction was compared to Arnold's stenogram, yielding a number of corrections.
