Notes about the German versions of this volume:
1st edition 1934. The 2nd edition of 1959 adds three lectures. Reprinted 1965. 4th edition of 1973 drops the added lectures. The text was also revised. Reprinted 1977 and 1988. Professionally stenographically recorded by Helene Finckh, the text is based on her initial typed reconstruction. For the 1973 edition the text was compared to the original stenogram, which yielded a whole series of corrections. Likely due to time pressures, the reconstruction contained numerous typos and short omissions. These were restored, making the 1973 edition significanly different from the earlier editions. In places the stenogram is illegible or ambiguous (allowing more than one plausible reconstruction). In those cases this is noted in the text.
