Notes about the German versions of this volume:
1st edition as a manuscript "Lecture Cycle for Doctors and Medical Students" in two paperback volumes, 1920. Reprinted 1929. 3rd edition with new title ("Spiritual Science and Medicine") 1937. Reprinted 1961, 1976, 1985, and 1989. Professionally stenographically recorded by Helene Finckh, the text is based on her initial typed reconstruction. The lecture cycle was advertised as "Spiritual-scientific Technical Course for Doctors and Medical Students" and was by invitation only to members of the Anthroposophical Society who met these qualifications. Steiner prepared extensively for this course, and his personal preparatory notes have been published in several expansion volumes to the Collected Works.
